Angular Velocity
What is angular velocity ?
When we look at motion in a straight line velocity, is distance moved in time taken.
Angular velocity is the rotational equivalent of linear velocity, it is angular distance moved in a unit time.
It is a description of how quickly an something spins.
We deal with angular velocity everyday
in our cars, many cars have engine RPM indicators which tell us how fast the engine is rotating.
Measuring Angular Velocity
Traditionally we measure angular velocity in units such as Revolutions per minute or RPM.
In the SI system of units we measure angular velocity in Radians per second [s-1].
60 RPM = 2 π radians s-1.
